Low Voltage Rescue (LVR)

ICG Training and Consultancy Services low voltage rescue course is a nationally recognised training program that provides those working in the Electricity Supply Industry (ESI) with the practical skills to extricate a casualty from an electrocution incident during live work or working with live switchboards. The course has been designed to cover health, safety and risk management processes when working with live electrical apparatus as well as rescue operations that involve lifesaving and injury prevention techniques to use during an incident or dangerous situation.

 The Low Voltage Rescue (LVR) course provides students with the practical skills to extricate a casualty from an electrocution incident during live work or working with live switchboards. The course includes the provision of CPR and electrocution response techniques and basic first aid.

From the guidance of our highly skilled and experienced trainers, you will learn:

  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills to use in all areas of life support.

  • To work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus.

  • Rescue and life-saving techniques including removing a casualty from a low voltage panel and applying basic first aid.

Refresher training for CPR must be completed every 12 months and first aid currency every Three (3) years.

Nationally Recognised Training

The course is comprised of 3 units of competency. All unit requirements must be satisfactorily completed to be deemed Competent.

  • UETDREL006 Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker.

  • HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

  • UETDRMP007 Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel.

This course is delivered as classroom-based activities and practical training and assessment.

The face-to-face classroom-based component of this program sees you undergo formal face-to-face learning and assessment sessions.

The face-face to component includes:

  • Trainer led theory and demonstration

  • Group-based hands on activities

  • Practical skills applications in simulated environments, including:

    • Preparing to work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus 

    • Carrying out work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus

    • Respond to emergency situations

    • Perform CPR, including the use of an AED

    • Communicate with emergency services personnel

    • Review incidents 

    • Carry out rescue from live LV panel

    • Undertake assessment of casualty after rescue 

Full cost of this course is $200 (GST exempt).

A non-refundable deposit of 20% is payable upon enrolment to secure your place with the balance due before the completion of the course.

ICG Training and Consultancy Services requires all prospective students to complete an application for enrolment, by downloading completing the Application for Enrolment Form.

Completed Application for Enrolment Forms can be submitted:

  • via email to shaun.inglis@icgroup.com.au, or 

  • in person at ICG Training and Consultancy Services head office, 44 Cockers Creek Rd, Spreyton TAS 7310. 

 

Students may be required to undertake a pre-enrolment interview and an LLN assessment to determine their suitability for their chosen program and to determine their level of language, literacy and numeracy skills in relation to their chosen program.

 

Submission of an application for enrolment does not guarantee that a student will be offered a place in their chosen program. ICG Training and Consultancy Services endeavours to ensure suitable candidates are accepted into a learning program where they are most likely to achieve success.

 

Additional information and documentation may be required to process applications, including:

  • Proof of identification (drivers’ licence, passport, photo ID card)

  • Verified copies of previously attained competencies for award of Recognition and/or Credit

  • Unique Student identifier (USI)

 

A USI is your individual education number for life. It also gives you an online record of your VET training undertaken in Australia from 1st January 2015.
