HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

ICG Training and Consultancy Services First Aid course is tailored to provide you with the knowledge and practical skills needed to respond effectively to medical emergencies, ensuring the well-being of both you and your colleagues.

The course is designed to equip you with the confidence and competence to administer crucial first aid in a variety of situations specific to the electrical workplace. From minor injuries to more serious incidents, you'll gain the skills to make a life-saving difference.

The HLTAID011 Provide First Aid equips students with the practical skills to apply emergency response and first aid to a casualty in a range of ESI work settings. The course includes the provision of a vast number of first aid applications and covers CPR.

From the guidance of our highly skilled and experienced trainers, you will learn:

To apply a range of first aid techniques in electrical specific medical scenarios.
Shock and burn management as well as trauma and injury response.
How to communicate with emergency response personnel and record incident details.

Refresher training for CPR must be completed every 12 months and first aid currency every Three (3) years.

The course is comprised of 1 unit of competency. All unit requirements must be satisfactorily completed to be deemed Competent.

HLTAID011 Provide first aid

This course is ideal for new entrants and existing workers/contractors of the electricity supply and/or civil construction industries, including those who are required to undertake design or contestable works on or near the electrical supply network and/or those who are seeking to gain competencies for machinery operations.

Students must:

Be at least 14 years of age to participate in CPR training in Australia
Be physically capable to perform:
- at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor
- at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR (5 cycles both compressions and ventilations) on an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surface
Have the necessary language, literacy and numeracy skills (LLN) to interpret and apply relevant information to commence learning in this program
Have an orientation towards working in this industry
Be able to implement discretionary judgement and decision making under supervision

Student will access industry appropriate equipment and resources when participating in the practical activities.

Students will be required to source their own clothing and footwear appropriate to practical training including rubber soled steel capped boots.

This course is delivered as classroom-based activities and practical training and assessment.

The face-to-face classroom-based component of this program sees you undergo formal face-to-face learning and assessment sessions.

The face-face to component includes:

Trainer led theory and demonstration
Group-based hands on activities
Practical skills applications in simulated environments, including:
- Responding to emergency situations
- Performing CPR, including the use of an AED
- Communicating with emergency services personnel
- Reviewing incidents

Full cost of this course is $200 (GST exempt).

A non-refundable deposit of 20% is payable upon enrolment to secure your place with the balance due before the completion of the course.

Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is an assessment process that involves assessment of an individual’s relevant prior learning (including formal, informal, and non-formal learning) to determine the credit outcomes of an individual application for credit.

Note: Recognition for the unit of competency, HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation, will involve refresher training requirements due to the licensing or regulatory requirements relating to this competency. Refresher training for CPR must be completed every 12 months.

Credit Transfer is a process that provides students with agreed and consistent credit outcomes for components of a qualification based on identified equivalence in content and learning outcomes between matched qualifications.

Note: Credit Transfer is not available for unit of competency, HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation due to the licensing or regulatory requirements relating to this competency. Refresher training for CPR must be completed every 12 months.

Students may be required to undertake a pre-enrolment interview and an LLN assessment to determine their suitability for their chosen program and to determine their level of language, literacy and numeracy skills in relation to their chosen program.

Submission of an application for enrolment does not guarantee that a student will be offered a place in their chosen program. ICG Training and Consultancy Services endeavours to ensure suitable candidates are accepted into a learning program where they are most likely to achieve success.

Additional information and documentation may be required to process applications, including:

Proof of identification (drivers’ licence, passport, photo ID card)
Verified copies of previously attained competencies for award of Recognition and/or Credit
Unique Student identifier (USI)

A USI is your individual education number for life. It also gives you an online record of your VET training undertaken in Australia from 1st January 2015.
