ICG Training and Consultancy Services Arc Flash Awareness Course is a nationally recognised training program and equips students with the knowledge necessary to understand the dangers of an arc flash event, and the skills to mitigate the risks associated with arc flash incidents when working on or near electrical apparatus.

The Arc Flash Awareness Course is a unique accredited program that provides students with the practical skills to understand arc flash occurrences and implement risk management practices to reduce the risk of injury and even death.

From the guidance of our highly skilled and experienced trainers, you will learn:

How arc flash is caused and the associated hazards and risks.
To manage arc flash risks using a range of control methods.
Arc Flash calculations to estimate incident energy (heat flux).

The course is comprised of 1 unit of competency. All unit requirements must be satisfactorily completed to be deemed Competent.

MSMWHS200 Work Safely

This course is ideal for new entrants and existing workers/contractors of the electricity supply and/or civil construction industries, including those who are required to undertake design or contestable works on or near the electrical supply network and/or those who are seeking to gain competencies for machinery operations.

Students must:

Have an orientation towards working in this industry or be already employed.
Have the necessary LLN skills to commence learning in this program
Be physically capable of performing at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR to an adult mannequin on the floor, and to maneuver a heavy dummy (70kg) to the floor.

Student will access industry appropriate equipment and resources when participating in the practical activities.

Students will be required to source their own clothing and footwear appropriate to practical training including rubber soled steel capped boots.

This course is delivered as classroom-based activities and practical training and assessment.

The face-to-face classroom-based component of this program sees you undergo formal face-to-face learning and assessment sessions.

The face-face to component includes:

Trainer led theory and demonstration
Group-based hands on activities
Practical skills applications in simulated environments, including:
- Identifying hazards and risks arc flash
- Application of arc flash risks control methods.
- Calculating arc flash estimate incident energy (heat flux).

Full cost of this course is $850 (GST exempt).

A non-refundable deposit of 20% is payable upon enrolment to secure your place with the balance due before the completion of the course.

Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is an assessment process that involves assessment of an individual’s relevant prior learning (including formal, informal, and non-formal learning) to determine the credit outcomes of an individual application for credit.

Credit Transfer is a process that provides students with agreed and consistent credit outcomes for components of a qualification based on identified equivalence in content and learning outcomes between matched qualifications.

ICG Training and Consultancy Services offers a range of learning support services and access to networks to ensure ongoing engagement and motivation. Educational and support services can include:

Pre-enrolment materials
Study and learning support
Access to equipment, resources and/or programs to increase access for students with special needs
Learning resources and tools
Referrals to mediation and counselling services
Flexible training and assessment participation
Student progression monitoring
Learning materials in alternative formats
Learning and assessment programs contextualised to the workplace, and
Any other services that we consider necessary to support you to achieve competency

ICG Training and Consultancy Services requires all prospective students to complete an application for enrolment, by downloading completing the Application for Enrolment Form.

Completed Application for Enrolment Forms can be submitted:

in person at ICG Training and Consultancy Services head office, 44 Cockers Creek Rd, Spreyton TAS 7310.

Students may be required to undertake a pre-enrolment interview and an LLN assessment to determine their suitability for their chosen program and to determine their level of language, literacy and numeracy skills in relation to their chosen program.

Submission of an application for enrolment does not guarantee that a student will be offered a place in their chosen program. ICG Training and Consultancy Services endeavours to ensure suitable candidates are accepted into a learning program where they are most likely to achieve success.

Additional information and documentation may be required to process applications, including:

Proof of identification (drivers’ licence, passport, photo ID card)
Verified copies of previously attained competencies for award of Recognition and/or Credit
Unique Student identifier (USI)

A USI is your individual education number for life. It also gives you an online record of your VET training undertaken in Australia from 1st January 2015.
